The Badgers have a must-add at a position of need on Wednesday.
The Wisconsin Badgers haven’t seen as much success recruiting the outside linebacker position this cycle.
They lost jumbo outside linebacker Carmelow Reed to the Ole Miss Rebels with a flip. They missed out on four-star McHale Blade to the Michigan Wolverines. And they’re in a battle with Michigan, the Penn State Nittany Lions, and the Ohio State Buckeyes for four-star Jackson Ford.
At the moment, their top realistic target is three-star Ben Duncum, who has some competition of his own. On Monday, Duncum released his top four schools: Wisconsin, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Kentucky. He’ll announce his commitment on Wednesday.
Duncum took official visits to each of his top four schools, with Wisconsin earning one the weekend of June 13th. A Texas native who stands 6’5, 255 pounds, Duncum seemed moved by Wisconsin’s visit, but there were other major programs closer to home calling with some late interest, such as Texas, Baylor, and Auburn, among others.
So, it’s notable that the three-star is electing to shut down his recruitment this week, rather than extend it into July.
The Badgers have a big need at the position, with Duncum being their top target to commit. Even then, they’ll still likely be in search of another target into the fall.
But, they’ll hear on Duncum’s decision when he commits on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Central.
