Wisconsin lost a top defensive back target to an ACC school over the weekend.
The Wisconsin Badgers lost out on a recruit over the weekend, as three-star defensive back Chase Geter committed to the Syracuse Orange.
Geter, a native of Virginia, had Duke, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Syracuse in his top four, electing to stay closer to home.
Wisconsin was recruiting Geter as a safety, although he has the versatility to play cornerback as well. Both safeties coach Jack Cooper and cornerbacks coach Paul Haynes were involved in his recruitment.
The Badgers had previously gotten a commitment from three-star safety Zachary Taylor to kick off the position group with the 2026 class. They are also recruiting a number of other safeties, with many still on the board.
With Geter heading to Syracuse, the focus now turns to three-star North Carolina safety Nick Reddish and three-star Georgia teammates Jowell Combay and Tony Forney.
Reddish has long been connected to Notre Dame, while there are family ties to Virginia Tech as well. Combay may be the top target remaining on the board, but he has some strong suitors coming for him, including Tennessee, Missouri, and South Carolina. He’s expected to commit on July 9th.
Forney, on the other hand, has taken official visits to Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
Wisconsin is in need of some more defensive backs in its 2026 class. Can they close on some of their remaining targets?
