No. 8-ranked University of Wisconsin women’s volleyball team swept UC Davis in their first game back at the UW Field House Sept. 4.
The Badgers stole all three sets from the Aggies (25-23, 26-24, 25-15) after falling to Texas earlier in the week at the Opening Spike Classic at the Kohl Center.
Wisconsin showed their dominance at home defeating the Aggies 25-23 in the first set with help from redshirt sophomore Grace Egan, who finished the first set with a hitting percentage of 1.000, going 4/4.
The Badgers and Aggies both had their fair share of servie errors throughout the match, tallying a total of 20 errors in three sets. The Badgers led the match in service aces, with help from Egan, redshirt sophomore Una Vajagic, sophomore Charlie Fuerbringer and freshman Addy Horner.
The Aggies gained a quick 17-9 lead in the second set. The Badgers then came back with a 5-0 run, leaving the score at 20-20.
With help from senior middleblocker Carter Booth, Colyer and Fuerbringer, the Badgers pushed through the last few points of the set, and secured the 26-24 win, holding two sets over UC Davis.
The true star of the front row was senior outside hitter Mimi Colyer, who ended the match with 13 kills, one block and a hitting percentage of .237 . Colyer was also named player of the match after the second set of the game.
