The Badgers star is poised to be taken in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Wisconsin Badgers had a strong 2024-25 season, thanks to the emergence of star transfer John Tonje, who averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 rebounds, while shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three.
Tonje, a transfer from Missouri, was one of the biggest revelations in college basketball this season, as he averaged just 2.3 points per game in eight contests for the Tigers in 2023-24.
Now, he’s poised to be selected in the 2025 NBA Draft, having been invited to the Draft Combine earlier this week.
Tonje measured in at 6-foot-4 and 3/4 inches barefoot and 211 pounds, while having a 6-foot-9 wingspan and 8-foot-7 standing reach there at the Combine.
He’ll have a chance to improve his draft stock with strong testing and interviews at the Combine, but his chance of being taken in the draft seem fairly good.
In his post-Combine mock draft, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony had Tonje going in the second round to the Milwaukee Bucks at No. 47 overall, which would keep him in the state he saw success with during his last year of college.
The Bucks have only one pick in the draft this year after trading their first round pick to the Brooklyn Nets. They could bolster their wing depth with the addition of Tonje, whose shooting, physicality, and attacking abilities could be beneficial at the next level.
