Badgers setting up rematch on the road vs. the team that bounced them from the NCAA Tournament

Wisconsin is looking for revenge on BYU.

The Wisconsin Badgers are setting up a rematch against the BYU Cougars as a part of their non-conference schedule this season, with the game taking place on November 21st at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, according to Jon Rothstein

Both teams will see each other again after BYU bounced Wisconsin in a 91-89 loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin has only played BYU twice in program history: once back in 2011 and this year in the NCAA Tournament.

It’ll be a far different matchup than the one we saw in March, as Wisconsin lost 10 players from their 2024-25 roster, hitting the transfer portal hard for replacements. They ended up landing San Diego State guard Nick Boyd, Tulsa guard Braeden Carrington, Virginia wing Andrew Rohde, and Portland forward Austin Rapp, while getting Lithuanian forward Aleksas Bieliauskas from overseas.

Meanwhile, the Cougars went through an overhaul as well, as head coach Kevin Young landed the No. 1 recruit in the country, A.J. Dybantsa, while getting Baylor guard Robert Wright III, a former five-star, in the transfer portal.

BYU also ended up getting forwards Kennard Davis, Dominique Diomande, and Tyler Mrus, as well as Nate Pickens, in the transfer portal, while keeping top player Richie Saunders.

So, this matchup should be a highly entertaining one, and a good test for Wisconsin on the road early during their non-conference schedule.

It’s clear the Badgers are trying to field a more competitive non-conference schedule the past few years, scheduling Arizona, Tennessee, UCF, Pitt, Marquette, and Butler last year. That seems to be the plan, once again, in 2025.
