King Liggins will make his decision on Wednesday, with Wisconsin being in the top two.
The Wisconsin Badgers are close to another commitment decision, as 2026 three-star defensive lineman King Liggins is set to make his announcement on Wednesday.
Liggins, a three-star defensive tackle from Illinois, is deciding between the Badgers and the Fighting Illini, who emerged as the top contenders in his recruitment.
He had several official visits planned to a number of Big Ten schools, including Illinois, Purdue, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Rutgers, but is making an early decision, with Wisconsin firmly in the mix.
Wisconsin has been in this recruitment for quite some time, offering the defensive tackle nearly a year ago back in June of 2024, marking Liggins’s first Big Ten offer.
Illinois has long shown interest, and offered Liggins earlier this year in January, joining the race a little later. However, momentum seems to be on the side of the Fighting Illini.
The 6’4, 285-pound defensive lineman would be the first interior lineman that Wisconsin has landed in the class if he commits on Wednesday. The Badgers already have a commitment from three-star defensive lineman Carmelow Reed, who stands at 6’7, 250 pounds.
Currently, the Badgers have seven commitments overall: Reed, linebacker Aden Reeder, quarterback Ryan Hopkins, wide receiver Tayshon Bardo, cornerback Carsen Eloms, offensive lineman Maddox Cochrane, and offensive lineman Benjamin Novak.
