The Badgers have themselves a top three player at a certain position.
Wisconsin Badgers redshirt senior long snapper Peter Bowden was named a finalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, one given to the best long snapper in the nation.
Bowden a semifinalist for the award in 2022, joins Nebraska’s Marco Ortiz and NC State’s Joe Schimko as the three finalists this season.
An initial walk-on when arriving on campus in 2019, Bowden earned a scholarship in early 2021 and has been one of the more consistent players for the Badgers since, playing in 38 consecutive games as the team’s long snapper.
Earlier this year, Bowden was named to the Mannelly Award watchlist, seen as one of the nation’s top 25 players at the position pre-season.
He was later named to the list of semi-finalists on November 13th among nine other candidates before landing in the group of finalists for the award.
The Mannelly Award dinner and ceremony will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9 in Chicago, where one of Bowden, Ortiz, and Schimko will be announced as the winner.
