Wisconsin got a commitment over the weekend, flipping an in-state recruit.
The Wisconsin Badgers got a late commitment to their 2025 class on Friday, as in-state athlete Mason Kelley announced his decision on social media, flipping from South Dakota.
Kelley had been committed to South Dakota State since July of 2024, signing back in February, according to 247Sports. However, he has now flipped to Wisconsin, joining his hometown team as a preferred walk-on.
Kelley had previously received offers from South Dakota State, North Dakota State, and Minnesota State Mankato before committing to the Jackrabbits. He got on the radar with good camp performances, showing off his athletic traits, which potentially caught the eyes of the Badgers.
He is expected to play wide receiver at Wisconsin, but has experience with quite a few positions, having played at quarterback and wideout during his senior year in 2024.
Wisconsin has often dipped into the in-state pool for walk-on recruits. Their 2024 class included safety/running back Mason Lane and wide receiver Langdon Noorgard.
Now, they have an in-state commit for the 2025 class, as Kelley is coming along as a walk-on late in the cycle.
