Wide receiver continues to be a position of need for Wisconsin in the transfer portal.
The Wisconsin Badgers have made a few splashes in the transfer portal thus far, landing a starting offensive tackle with Central Michigan’s Davis Heinzen and a top tight end with Missouri State’s Lance Mason.
However, they’re not done yet. Wisconsin is continuing to be active in the spring transfer portal window, with its focus now transitioning to wide receivers.
Having already been linked to a few transfer wideouts, the Badgers are now showing interest in UConn wide receiver Jasaiah Gathings, according to Nilson Sports’s CEO Michael Salvo.
As a junior in 2024, Gathings had 32 catches for 307 yards and three touchdowns as UConn’s No. 3 wide receiver. That followed a 2023 season at Akron, where the wideout caught 55 passes for 575 yards and a touchdown.
Standing 6’2, 190 pounds, Gathings would add to Wisconsin’s depth on the boundary, which took a hit earlier this month when Mark Hamper and Quincy Burroughs entered the transfer portal.
There has been a large number of schools showing preliminary interest in the UConn wideout, including Wisconsin, Baylor, Purdue, West Virginia, Washington State, Colorado State, Western Kentucky, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Western Michigan, and Kennesaw State.
A visit schedule is expected to be finalized soon, according to Salvo.
