What are Badgers coaches making this fall?
The Wisconsin Badgers made quite a few changes to their coaching staff this season, namely hiring Kansas offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes to the same position, replacing Phil Longo.
In addition, they moved Kenny Guiton to quarterbacks coach, hired Jordan Reid as the wide receivers coach, and elevated Jack Cooper to safeties coach to replace the departing Alex Grinch.
What are all of their salaries?
According to BadgerExtra’s Colten Bartholomew, Grimes will make a salary of $800,000, which is half a million dollars less than what he would’ve made at Kansas this year when looking at his salary and retention bonus. For reference, offensive coordinator Phil Longo made $1.25 million at Wisconsin last year.
What’s even more interesting is that Grimes actually hasn’t signed his official contract yet, which he said, via Bartholomew, should be done sometime this summer. That isn’t all that uncommon, however, as Longo only signed a contract several months after entering an agreement with Wisconsin to be their offensive coordinator back in 2022.
Down the board, Reid will make $300,000, which is $125,000 less than what Guiton made as the wide receivers coach in 2024. Cooper will make $325,000, which is $175,000 less than what Alex Grinch made in that position last year.
Some other notable contracts include defensive coordinator Mike Tressel, who earned a raise of $100,000 to $900,000. He also has a performance bonus of up to $200,000, depending on how the defense plays. Outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell also got a $50,000 raise, per Bartholomew.
Some assistant salaries for new faces were also revealed.
Assistant special teams coordinator Michael Cibene and assistant tight ends coach Joe Ludwig will make $120,000 each. Cibene was the edge coach at Florida Atlantic last season, while Ludwig was a quality control coach at Baylor.
Assistant wide receivers coach Blake Rolan, formerly the offensive coordinator at Southern Illinois, will make $150,000.
New nickelbacks/assistant defensive backs coach Scott Power, who was the defensive coordinator at Western Michigan in 2024, will make $200,000.
Lastly, assistant linebackers coach Tuf Borland, who was elevated from a graduate assistant role, will make $120,000.
There have been a lot of changes in the Badgers program this offseason, especially with some assistant position group hires. Here are the salaries for all the new names.
