West initially announced his commitment in April, becoming one of the latest preferred walk-ons in the 2024 class to join the team.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for the opportunity to play the sport I love at the Division 1 level,” West shared on Twitter. “Thank you to my Mom, Dad, Brother, and 3 Sisters for the continued support they have shown me throughout my football career. I would like to thank all of my coaches, including Coach Zortman, Coach Price, Coach Adams, and many others.
“Also, a big thank you to Coach Radke and Coach Mehlhalff for helping me progress as a kicker. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Raisbeck, Coach Mitchell, and Coach Fickell for believing in me and giving me a chance! Saying all of that, I’m extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison!”
As a senior in 2023, West was awarded the Kevin Stemke Award, which is given to Wisconsin’s best high school senior specialist.
The Badgers currently have three scholarship specialists: kicker Nathanial Vakos, punter Atticus Bertrams, and long snapper Cayson Pfeiffer.
