The Badgers may not be done dipping into the international world of recruiting for the 2025 class.
The Wisconsin Badgers have seen an overhaul this offseason, as they’ve had to replace six departing seniors and four transfers, leading them to hit the transfer portal for help.
Thus far, they’ve been fairly successful, landing commitments from San Diego State guard Nick Boyd, Tulsa guard Braeden Carrington, Virginia wing Andrew Rohde, and Portland forward Austin Rapp.
Additionally, the Badgers have dipped into the international pool, adding 19-year-old Lithuanian forward Aleksas Bieliauskas to fill out their rotation. Those additions complement a high school class that currently includes four-star guard Zach Kinziger, three-star guard Hayden Jones, and three-star center Will Garlock.
Well, they may not be done yet, as Jake Lieberman has reported that Wisconsin is one of a few high-major programs showing interest in 20-year-old Croatian forward Ivan Bogdanovic.
Bogdanovic, whose height ranges from 6’7 to 6’9 on different publications, averaged 18.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists for SC Derby, according to Lieberman.
Wisconsin’s roster for the upcoming year is nearly set, as they currently have 13 scholarship players, which includes John Blackwell, Jack Janicki, Nolan Winter, Jack Robison, and Riccardo Greppi, alongside the players previously mentioned.
Now, while 13 scholarship players are expected to be the number going forward once the House settlement is finalized, Wisconsin has some flexibility, as they could convert Janicki back to a walk-on player by compensating him with NIL money to bring along another scholarship player.
Nonetheless, Wisconsin still has the opportunity to add another player. While it’s unclear what the interest is in Bogdanovic, he could be a possibility, adding to Wisconsin’s pipeline of international players.
