Wisconsin is losing another pass-catcher to the transfer portal.
The spring transfer portal window is opening on Wednesday, and the Wisconsin Badgers are starting to take the hits, as wide receiver Quincy Burroughs announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
Burroughs, a redshirt sophomore, is the second Badgers receiver to announce they’re entering the transfer portal on Tuesday, joining redshirt freshman Mark Hamper, who had just come to Wisconsin from Idaho this winter.
A three-star recruit in the Class of 2022, Burroughs redshirted his freshman year at Cincinnati, but came to Wisconsin with head coach Luke Fickell in 2023, where he’s spent the last two years.
He played all 13 games of his redshirt freshman year on special teams, while also catching four passes for 30 yards. He then played in 9 games last year, catching one pass.
Burroughs had started to crack the fold last offseason in the receiver rotation, but needed to be more consistent, according to then-wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton.
This offseason, Burroughs was working in the rotation on the outside alongside Vinny Anthony, transfer Jayden Ballard, Chris Brooks, Tyrell Henry, and Joseph Griffin.
Now, he will look to spend his final two years of college eligibility elsewhere.
