GET IN, WE’RE GOING TO PLAY BASKETBALL | Marquette University

June 15th is always the first day that coaches can initiate contact with athletes that just finished their sophomore year, so who is Shaka Smart prioritizing?

If you want to be a college basketball coach, then you have to keep June 15th available on your calendar. That’s the day that coaches can start contacting players that just finished up their sophomore year of high school every single calendar year. It’s clearly a busy day, and this year’s June 15th is absolutely no different because we’re going to run through everyone in the Class of 2027 that we can at least point to that Marquette men’s basketball got in touch with on the 15th.

No particular order here other than “this is the order that I found the tweets on Monday morning even though Twitter’s search function is horribly broken.” Please Note: All of these are CONTACT with the athletes in question, it appears that none of them have received an offer from Shaka Smart and his staff at this point.

Kamari Whyte

Sources tell me that 2027 Kamari Whyte of @VermontAcadHoop & @NewHeightsNYC has heard from the following schools since the opening of the contact period:

Marquette, Quinnipiac, Merrimack, Brown, Loyola MD, and Rice.@NERRHoops pic.twitter.com/7ommKWqYHh

— Dylan Thayer (@DylanThayer0) June 15, 2025

Kamari Whyte has an On3 page that lists him as a 6’3”, 175 pound shooting guard. Of course, it also lists him as a 2028 prospect.

Tyrone Jamison

Top-15 ‘27 prospect Tyrone Jamison has heard from a number of programs with the contact period open:

Baylor HC
Miami HC
LSU HC
Maryland (offer)
Louisville
Ark
Kentucky
LA Tech
USC
SMU
Marquette

Elite scoring and playmaking guard for @JL3Elite 16u, averaging 14.7 pts, 5.0 ast. pic.twitter.com/SkiGBisebD

— Sam Lance (@slancehoops) June 15, 2025

247 Sports lists Jamison as a 6’2”, 160 pound point guard. They have him as the #14 prospect in the country in their internal rankings and #11 in the country in the Composite.

J’Lon Lyons

INFO: Top-115 2027 prospect J’Lon Lyons tells me that he has heard from the following schools since the initial contact period began at midnight:

Kansas
Providence (offer)
Oklahoma St (offer)
VT (offer)
Maryland
Syracuse
Illinois
Marquette
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Pittsburgh pic.twitter.com/5Hjfa1TZhg

— Recruits Zone (Blake Smith) (@recruitszone) June 15, 2025

We have our first “people are just saying things” entry on the list, as 247 Sports lists Lyons as a 6’3”, 165 pound point guard prospect, but doesn’t have him rated or ranked in their internal system or in their Composite. On3 has the same measurements, but again: No rating or ranking.

Henry Fox

Sources tell me that 2027 Henry Fox of @WRA_Hoops & @TheCityRocks has heard from the following schools since the opening of the contact period:

Cornell
Syracuse
Wyoming
Marquette
Merrimack
Indiana State
Rice

Fox starred in the WNY #E75 on Friday!@NERRHoops pic.twitter.com/zDzB71k1qs

— Dylan Thayer (@DylanThayer0) June 15, 2025

We have to slide all the way down to Prep Hoops to find any measurements for Fox, as they list him as a 6’7” small forward. It’s worth noting that Fox is at the same prep school that produced Damarius Owens and Royce Parham.

Marlon Martinez

Bishop Loughlin (NY) & @RIElite_ 2027 Marlon Martinez has heard from the following schools so far today:

Utah
Marquette
Rutgers
Iowa State
Oklahoma State
Illinois
VCU
St. Louis
Fairleigh Dickinson@NERRHoops @pimpo_mrtnz pic.twitter.com/eyL8rfLDlg

— Dylan Thayer (@DylanThayer0) June 15, 2025

I found a MadeHoops.com profile page for Martinez that lists him as a 6’3”, 165 pound wing.

Jaydn Jenkins

2027 F Jaydn Jenkins has heard from WVU, Oklahoma, OK State, Marquette, Pitt, La Salle, VCU, Pepperdine, Illinois, Merrimack, Cornell, Drexel, ODU, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and Saint Louis, he tells me. One of the best big men in the sophomore class pic.twitter.com/MdkHIEJGXI

— Brian Flinn (@BflinnHoops) June 15, 2025

247 Sports lists Jenkins as a 6’8”, 185 pound center. My advice to him would be to work on his ballhandling and shooting skills juuuuuuuuuust in case he’s maxed out his height.

Gene Roebuck III

2027 Gene Roebuck III tells us he has heard from the following schools since midnight:

USC
Utah
Arizona
Marquette
Cal
BYU
Texas@gene24roebuck

— 365 Recruits (@365_Recruits) June 15, 2025

247 Sports lists Roebuck as a 6’5”, 180 pound small forward. They have him as the #28 prospect in the Class of 2027 in the internal rankings and #22 in the Composite. With that kind of a recruiting ranking, we might not be that far away from having a Chet and a Gene in the NBA. What a time to be alive.

Shawn Foster

2027 Shawn Foster has heard from the following schools since midnight

• Cincinnati
• Marquette
• Missouri
• Notre Dame
• Ohio
• Ohio State
• South Carolina

Foster, heralded as one of the top shotmakers in his class, announced last month that he’d be headed to SPIRE to… pic.twitter.com/0Mg13eeUIl

— T.J. Peatross (@NEO_Spotlight) June 15, 2025

247 Sports lists Foster as a 6’1”, 160 pound point guard. No ratings or rankings at this time.

Declan Griffiths

2027 wing Declan Griffiths has heard from Marquette, Maryland, northwestern, VCU, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell and Quinnipiac today. One of the better shooters in New England’s 3027 class pic.twitter.com/5iP0lL96UP

— Brian Flinn (@BflinnHoops) June 15, 2025

It was a very busy day for Mr. Flinn so I don’t want to be mean to him…. but “3027 class” is very funny. Anyway, 247 Sports says that Griffiths is a 6’6”, 170 pound small forward.

Deuce McDuffie

Note: 6’7 Deuce McDuffie of Team Herro/Rufus King has heard from:

Bradley
Marquette
Nebraska
Northern Iowa
Saint Louis
Stony Brook
Syracuse
UCF
VCU
Wisconsin today pic.twitter.com/pG3zDVTaaY

— Nick Osen (@TheRealNickOsen) June 16, 2025

Keep an eye on McDuffie, since he’s a Milwaukee kid. 247 Sports lists him as a 6’6”, 205 pound small forward.

JJ Watts

2027 Wing JJ Watts was offered by Florida State this morning, he announced. Rice, Yale, Cornell, Virginia Tech, Western Illinois, Marquette, and USF have all made contact today as well. Watts’ athleticism and defensive versatility will make him highly coveted pic.twitter.com/HH6fpf7zgl

— Brian Flinn (@BflinnHoops) June 15, 2025

It is worth noting that if this young man is 16 years old right now, he was born before the Wisconsin defensive lineman was the #11 pick in the NFL Draft. Anyway, 247 Sports says he’s a 6’7”, 185 pound small forward.

Donovan Davis

Schools to reach out to ‘27 top-50 prospect Donovan Davis for June 15:

Nebraska
Iowa St.
Notre Dame
Kentucky
Bradley
BYU
Western Mich
Wisconsin
Marquette
Syracuse
St. Louis

Davis leads a loaded @team_herro 16u squad in performance index rating. Averaging 13.1 pts, 7.4 rebs. pic.twitter.com/wcs1x8T5C0

— Sam Lance (@slancehoops) June 15, 2025

Another Team Herro guy, just like Deuce McDuffie, so watch out for him. 247 Sports lists Davis as a 6’7”, 200 pound power forward and they rank him at #41 in the internal system. No Composite ranking yet.

Jack Kohnen

2027 W Jack Kohnen has been contacted by the following schools so far:
Kentucky
BYU
Iowa State
Marquette
Nebraska
Iowa
Virginia Tech
Notre Dame
Saint Louis
Bradley@kohnen_jack @team_herro @SlingerHOOPSLtd https://t.co/ZlQtaXpDjU pic.twitter.com/kAN2ivZrfV

— Trent Markwith (@TMarkwith14) June 16, 2025

Another Team Herro player, this time from Slinger, Wisconsin. 247 Sports lists Kohnen as a 6’5”, 170 pound small forward with no ratings or rankings at this time.

Devin Cleveland

The following schools have reached out to Top 25 prospect Devin Cleveland.

South Carolina
Oklahoma
Michigan
Ohio State
Western Michigan
Marquette
Notre Dame
Arizona Statehttps://t.co/gZnZWmMMDV pic.twitter.com/7mJQ2cqNj6

— Dushawn London (@DushawnLondon1) June 15, 2025

If you’re #25 in the country in 247 Sports’ internal rankings and #21 in the Composite as a 6’0”, 155 pound point guard, you’re probably pretty dang good at basketball.

Marquis Newson

2027 Wing Marquis Newson tells me Marquette called earlier today. UAB, VCU, Lasalle, Cornell, Pepperdine & Merrimack also reached out.

The Team Final standout is a notable addition to the @NGSaintsHoops for this upcoming HS season. pic.twitter.com/pAkKrAihFc

— Trent Watson (@Trentw_23) June 15, 2025

247 Sports shows Newson as a 6’4”, 175 pound shooting guard. No ratings or rankings for him yet.

Hey, it’s a recruiting article, so we have to close out with the roster chart!

Marquette men’s basketball scholarships after the commitment of Sheek Pearson.

All of the guys listed above would be scheduled to arrive in Milwaukee in the wake of Sean Jones, Zaide Lowery, and Tre Norman wrapping up their time as Golden Eagles.
