There are two freshmen and a transfer on the roster in 2025-26, so let’s dive into the history of the numbers they’ll be wearing.
We already talked about new uniform numbers for two guys on the Marquette men’s basketball roster and ran down the numbers for the four freshmen on the roster as well. Today, we turn our attention to the women’s basketball team. Cara Consuegra has two freshmen joining the team in 2025-26 as well as a transfer.
Let’s get to it, going in numerical order……..
JJ Barnes — #8
We start off with a quick one, as the 5’9” guard from Racine will be the first #8 in program history. We’re going to see this happen pretty regularly now that the NCAA has opened the doors to wearing numbers that aren’t between 0 and 5. Barnes is the second Marquette player to break to that side of the aisle, following behind Bridget Utberg switching from #2 as a sophomore to #7 as a junior last year.
Kam Herring — #10
The 6’1” guard from Atlanta is the first #10 on the roster since Claire Kaifes, which means it just took last year off. The big name in the all time #10 list is Kerri Christianson, who put up 1,002 points for Marquette in the mid-1980s. That’s not her most notable contribution, as Christianson is Marquette’s all-time leader in blocks with 170. There’s just four women who have cleared 150 in program history, and no one at all since Sarina Simmons after she finished up in 2013. With that said, Herring has a chance to put together the best #10 career if she keeps it for four years. MU lists Christianson at both #10 and #25, so I’m not 100% clear as to which seasons she was wearing #10. Some of that record setting shot blocking was with #25, so that opens the door for Herring, at least a little bit.
We should also acknowledge Sidney Majette in the #10 conversation, too. She’s #10 all time in program history in steals with 211, and she finished her career at #5 before getting passed by a few people since 1998. Majette holds the program record for steals in a game after recording nine swipes against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on January 16, 1995.
Jordan Meulemans — #20
This is a change for Meulemans from Butler where she wore #23 for the two seasons she played and held onto during her injury redshirt campaign last year. Olivia Porter is holding on to #23, and so that’s what prompted the switch.
Frannie Hottinger was the most recent #20 on the squad as it went unused last season. It’s going to be very hard for Meulemans to turn into the best #20 in program history, as that’s Krystal Ellis. With 1,940 career points, Ellis broke Abbie Willenborg’s career scoring record and held the top mark for the program until Allazia Blockton became the first 2,000 point scorer in Marquette history. Heck, being the second best #20 won’t be a picnic, as Lori Goerlitz is #29 on the all-time scoring list, #5 on the assists list, and she had MU’s three-point shooting record until Natisha Hiedeman smashed it.
