There’s Some Weight Changes For Marquette MBB

June 21, 2025 by Anonymous Eagle

Josh Clark participates in conditioning at the AHPRC in Milwaukee, WI on June 6th, 2025.

Nobody’s taller than they used to be, but Todd Smith’s strength & conditioning program seems to be showing some results.

As the Marquette athletics administration kicks the official men’s basketball roster page over from 2024-25 to 2025-26, we get the opportunity to see if there’s any notable changes for how they’re listing the guys on the team. Specifically: We can take a peek to see if anyone’s gotten bigger, either by height or weight from their listed numbers last season.

This time around, no one on the team is suddenly an inch taller. There are, however, three guys who are five pounds heavier and one who jumped by by 10 pounds. Heck, there’s actually even one guy who is lighter.

First, the five pound changes:

Zaide Lowery: 200 to 205

Damarius Owens: 200 to 205

Royce Parham: 230 to 235

I think the Owens and Parham changes are the most notable ones here just because they’ve wrapped up their freshman years. If nothing else, a full year of work in Todd Smith’s strength and conditioning system has presumably gotten them into better shape, and the fact that they’ve gone up in weight a little bit is pretty good. It wouldn’t be weird to see them stay the same but lean up a bit for a net zero change, but they’re up a little bit.

Tre Norman is the guy who lost five pounds. He was 210 last season, and now he’s 205. At 6’4”, 210 isn’t exactly bulky, but perhaps being down a little bit will add some extra agility to his game.

The most notable change on the roster is redshirt freshman Josh Clark. He joined the team last summer and got listed at 7’1” and 225 pounds. That’s kinda why he sat out for the year, and at least for now, Marquette’s listing him at 235 pounds. I feel like that’s starting to veer into territory where he might stand up to physicality in the paint a little bit better, and Marquette’s definitely going to want to see something from him this coming season, even if it’s just a little bit.

That’s the returning guys. There’s also the four freshmen to consider. All four of them are arriving in Milwaukee with a listed weight that’s heavier than what their 247 Sports recruiting page says.

Nigel James: 247 says 6’0”, 182 lbs; Marquette says 6’0”, 185

Ian Miletic: 247 says 6’7”, 180 lbs; Marquette says 6’7”, 200

Michael Phillips: 247 says 6’6”, 175 lbs; Marquette says 6’6”, 195

Adrien Stevens: 247 says 6’4”, 195 lbs; Marquette says 6’4”, 210

I don’t think there’s a whole lot to read into this quite yet, other than they are bigger than we’ve been talking about them in the past. That’s not terribly surprising, between the possibility that those 247 weights might be over a year old and the combination of 1) going from 17 years old to 18 years old and 2) Todd Smith getting a chance to at least start throwing them some tips since they signed probably helped them boost up a bit before they even got to campus.

I think there’s a way for all four young men to possibly contribute to Marquette immediately, so we’ll have to see how everyone looks by the time we get around to November.
