We’ve got a pair of new recruiting targets in both the 2027 and 2028 recruiting classes.
Saw this on Instagram on Monday morning:
So, I says to myself, I says, “hey, I wonder if that means there’s some Marquette women’s basketball scholarship offers floating around in the universe to talk about?” Turns out I was right, although it turns out that, at least based on what I could find via a search on Twitter, there was only one from June 1st. There were a few from a couple of days before that, and so now, here we are. We’ve got two each for the Class of 2027 — players who are finishing up their sophomore year of high school right now — as well as two for the Class of 2028.
Let’s go!
Class of 2027
Bella Owumi
After great conversations with @CoachKD_MU & Coach @cconsuegra – I’m so happy to receive a scholarship offer to play basketball at Marquette! Thank you so much pic.twitter.com/LqDNUynINn

Bella Owumi’s own Twitter bio lists her as a 6’0” point guard/shooting guard, so we’ll take her at her word. She attends St. Mary’s in Lynn, Massachusetts, which is about 10 miles outside of downtown Boston. She was just named the Boston Globe Athlete of the Year (I presume specifically for girls’ basketball?) after guiding her high school squad to the Division 3 state title behind 17.1 points per game. That’s apparently not a new feat for Owumi, as it seems that she’s up to three state titles in four seasons as a varsity basketball player…… at the end of her sophomore year of high school.
Back in February, the Boston ABC affiliate did a feature on her, and noted that Owumi already had 16 scholarship offers at that point. Her first offer was three years ago from Rhode Island, but there’s been a lot of high major action on the recruiting front lately. Marquette is joined in a recent offer to Owumi by St. John’s, Florida State, and Virginia Tech.
You can watch the video segment, it’s got some clips of Owumi over the years plus some St. Mary’s practice footage.
How about some in game footage from a recent club team event?

Katie Muller
Super excited to have received an offer from Marquette University! Thank you to all the coaches and staff! Go Golden Eagles!! pic.twitter.com/8IJWRV8mwR

Prep Girls Hoops is here to help out, as they list Muller as a 6’1” shooting guard. She attends Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, which you’ll be shocked to find out is west of Des Moines in central Iowa. PGH also says that Muller is the #4 prospect in the state of Iowa for the Class of 2027, and the top 5 is a very guard/wing heavy list. It’s probably a pretty top heavy list, too. Jr. All Star ranks Muller at #65 in the country at the moment.
Hey, you wanna see someone drop a gigantic scouting report on Muller right onto Twitter?

I appreciate the info, but my brother in Christ, get yourself a website.
I don’t have any video that I can embed for you here, but I can point you towards Muller’s Hudl page, which was last updated back in March.
Class of 2028
Leah DeWitt
After a great conversation with @CoachDCLT and @cconsuegra , I am very blessed and grateful to receive an offer from Marquette University !! @aeblgirlz @MariettaGBB @rdewitt33 @HoopCoachDeWitt @pitts_academy @NSTAPES5 pic.twitter.com/pFbOaSwVl9

I’m not going to put a lot of time into analyzing a prospect that’s just wrapping up their freshman year of high school, but I will note that it is very helpful that DeWitt put her Hudl page (last updated in February!) right in her Twitter bio. That lists her at 5’8” and declares her to be a point guard.
She hails from Georgia, where she attends Marietta High School. DeWitt averaged over 25 points and six rebounds a game as a freshman, so we’ll see where things go for her from here.
The offers have been pouring in for her, as just since Marquette got on the board, DeWitt has also picked up offers from Florida State, Missouri, Houston, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Miami, SMU, Auburn, Wake Forest, Pitt, and Purdue.
Erin Thomas
Congrats Erin Thomas on your Marquette University WBB offer! Hard work pays off–can’t wait to see what’s next! #SCAFam #EliteMindset #NikeFam #2025EYBL #RoadtoChi #JustDoIt pic.twitter.com/jjwrbyIPVs

We’re going out on something of a high note, as ESPN has Erin Thomas on their Class of 2028 Watch List right now. It’s not a ranking of any kind, just a list of freshmen who have already made an impact on the recruiting scene already. Not surprisingly, there are 25 names on the list, so odds are that the 6’1” Thomas will have a pretty strong chance of being on ESPN’s Terrific 25 when they update things eventually.
Thomas attends Princeton High School in the north Cincinnati suburbs. It appears that her team’s conference is on top of the stats game, so we know that Thomas averaged 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. She’s going to have to work on that 26.1% three-point shooting percentage, especially if she’s going to average more than four attempts per game like she did as a freshman.
And now, the scholarship chart.

Without diving into the impending mess of the roster for the 2026-27 season, it seems clear that the 2027 recruiting class will be kind of a big one for Cara Consuegra. There are five pending seniors after the 2026-27 season, and after what we saw in 2024-25, it’s clear that losing Skylar Forbes and Halle Vice alone will be a pretty good deal. As far as 2028 goes, we’re going to need to see how the roster shifts between now and a year from now before we really make any statements about what Marquette needs in the recruiting class.
