Okay, the draft is in EIGHT days, but you get the point.
It’s been a little over three weeks since we did an NBA Draft mock draft round up to see what the internet has to say about the prospects of Marquette guard Kam Jones. We’re about a week out from the first round of the draft on June 25th, so it feels like a good time to check in again. We’ll try to squeeze in one last round up before the draft next Wednesday, because maaaaaaaaaaybe there’s some last second changes.
Remember: There are 30 first round picks in the NBA Draft, with all of them receiving guaranteed contracts. There’s only two rounds to the draft, so it’s up to each individual team as to whether or not they want to actually sign the guy they take in the second round. This year, there’s only 29 second round picks because the New York Knicks lost a pick because of free agent shenanigans. As you read along, keep in mind that there are only 59 picks in this year’s draft.
Let’s dive right in!

FUN FACT: ESPN published a brand new mock draft after I started putting this together. Good thing I decided to wrap up by doing a Google search for mock drafts before I wrapped up, huh?
CBS Sports Prospect Rankings: #33
CBS Sports has five different mock draft available, none of which go past the first round, and thus none of them have Kam Jones on the board.

Kevin O’Connor’s Team Fit for Jones here:
Jones offers crafty combo guard skills with advanced shot creation and a blossoming playmaking feel. But his so-so athleticism and streaky shooting paint him as just a cog rather than the rare star upperclassmen set to enter the league. Still, the Kings could use more creation especially if they have some departures this summer, such as DeMar DeRozan or Domantas Sabonis in a trade.

The top line summary for their scouting report:
In a world where everybody needs well-rounded guards who can just play basketball, he’ll always have a home.
Sports Illustrated (6/16): #46, Orlando Magic
