New coach, new roster, new year. Marquette volleyball went through a lot of adjustments in 2025.
What didn’t change for the Golden Eagles, though, was their NCAA tournament streak, which extended to 15 years (when the full 64 teams participated) on Sunday. The only time since 2010 they missed the Big Dance was in spring 2021, due to a reduced tournament field.
Marquette (17-10, 11-5 Big East) will travel to Louisville to play the 7th seeded Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in the first round on Friday. If they win, the Golden Eagles will face the victor of the No. 2 seed Louisville Cardinals and the Ramblers of Loyola Chicago in the second round on Sunday.
Marquette, which earned an at-large bid, did not do enough to be seeded, which go only to the top 32 teams overall. But, after finishing the regular season with four straight wins and playing competitive sets against Creighton, it will go dancing.
It will be the second time the Golden Eagles will play Western Kentucky this season; they swept the Hilltoppers 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-19) at the Al McGuire Center on Sept. 5. In that match, Natalie Ring and Elena Radeff both led with 10 kills and Marquette hit .275 as a team.
