The Golden Eagles will be in the Urbana Regional, vying for a top five finish and a trip to the championship round.
The NCAA announced the 81 team field for the 2025 men’s golf regionals on Wednesday afternoon, and as Big East champions, we already knew that YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles would be part of the competition. Their destination and seeding was a mystery though, and now that’s been cleared up. Marquette will be the #8 seed in the Urbana Regional hosted by the University of Illinois at Atkins Golf Club in Urbana, Illinois.
There are six regional sites in all, and the top five finishers at each regional after 54 holes of competition will advance to the finals. Marquette will be in action from May 12-14 at Atkins Golf Club, looking to move up from their #8 seed. If they finish better than their seeding but still miss out on advancing, that will go in the book as the best regional finish for Marquette in NCAA tournament history. It’s going to be a steep climb for the Golden Eagles, as this is the field for their regional and their corresponding national ranking:
- Oklahoma State Cowboys — #2
- North Carolina — #10
- Illinois — #14
- Texas Tech — #23
- Long Beach State — #26
- UNLV — #35
- Houston — #38
- Marquette — #47
- Troy — #51
- Pacific — #60
- NC State — #64
- Illinois State — #136
- Wright State — #163
In addition to the team competition, Marquette’s squad will be vying for the individual advancement to the finals. The best individual finisher that isn’t on the five teams to advance will also head to Omni La Costa Resort in California from May 23 through 28.
