KANSAS CITY, KS — Marquette landed one of the best rim-running recruits earlier this month, adding a talented near-seven-footer to its 2026 class. At 6-foot-11, 200 pounds, Sheek Pearson is “loaded with long-term tools” and is viewed as a recruit with incredibly high upside.
“I definitely try to go after every shot, block every shot,” Pearson told ZAGSBLOG. “Put backs and run the floor. Pick and roll, lobs and anything around the rim as well.”
Pearson attends the John Burroughs School in St. Louis and will play with Brad Beal Elite this summer in the EYBL circuit. The third EYBL session of the season just wrapped up in Kansas City and Pearson’s best performance of the weekend came in a win against Team United, recording 18 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting.
Playing for NBA star Bradley Beal’s program, he has used some advice and knowledge from one of the best players in the world.
“Telling us that even though some of us have offers, it doesn’t meaning nothing anymore,” he said. “It could be given or taken at any time so we just got to compete and play hard.”
Pearson announced his commitment to Marquette on May 12, and he chose the Golden Eagles over schools like Iowa State and Purdue.
“I have a great relationship with Shaka [Smart] and the rest of the staff,” Pearson said. “It was built ever since Peach Jam ended until I committed. I felt very comfortable with the staff and just seeing the past and history of Shaka and other players that are similar to me, how he developed them and get them to where they are now.”
Pearson said he’s beginning to build a relationship with a fellow Marquette commit, Ethan Johnston, who also committed to the Golden Eagles earlier this month.
The four-star forward said it was a long process to decide on a school, but after spending a lot of time evaluating his options, Marquette was ultimately the place for him.
“It was between two schools heavily,” Pearson said. “I just kept thinking about it. Thinking about trying to get my game to the next level. The biggest thing was the development, and once I really just thought about the potential that I have, it was a clear decision for me.”
Pearson has built relationships close relationships with other coaches on staff, particularly assistant coach CJ Rivers.
“He was the one that mainly recruited throughout, so I’ve got a great relationship with him.”
Pearson is four-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 85 player in the class of 2026.
