Four-star shooting guard Gabriel Sularski talks recruitment, AAU season with Team Herro

KANSAS CITY, KS — Class of 2026 four-star shooting guard Gabriel Sularski is part of a very talented and dangerous teams in the Nike EYBL circuit: Team Herro. At 6-foot-5, 180 pounds, Sularski is an athletic guard and uses his larger frame to dominate the mid-range area. Through the first 11 games of this year’s EYBL circuit, he has averaged 5.9 points per game for his team.

“I was struggling a little bit the first two sessions, but then I kind of got to my sweet spot that I love in the mid-range,” Sularski told ZAGSBLOG. “So it got me going and everyone just built off everyone’s energy.”

Although Sularski can be lethal in the mid-range, his defense is one of his top calling cards. Defense is something he has worked vigorously to improve over the years and he’s now beginning to see the results of his hard work.

“I think No. 5 [Paul Osaruyi], one of the top players, I held him to only two points,” Sularski said. “So I think that’s a huge part, a huge step in my development and stuff as a player. My defense has really improved. So that and just like I said, showing up on offense. That’s what I did today. I got shots up, got on the defensive boards and did really well.”

During his junior season at Lemont High School (IL), Sularski led his team to the IHSA Class 3A State Championship before falling to Brother Rice 53-41. Over the course of the season, he had many different programs visit him and watch his games at Lemont including Indiana, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Sularski has taken unofficial visits to Michigan State (three times), Illinois, Indiana (old staff), Michigan (old staff) and Wisconsin. He plans on waiting until August or September to start taking officials. Sularski’s offer list includes DePaul, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Purdue, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Sularski provided an update on the schools recruiting him the hardest:

Notre Dame: “Mike Farrelly, he’s been great. He’s recruited me since my freshman summer going into my sophomore year, and it’s been great. Same with coach (Micah) Shrewsberry, it’s been great. Both have been out to watch me, and I did go on a visit to Notre Dame as well. That was a great visit. Just building connections, like with all coaches. Have to get good connections, see what fits the best for me and see what kind of role they potentially see me in as a freshman.”

Michigan State: “Jon Moravec. [Tom] Izzo saw me my freshman summer going into my sophomore year. Both him and Jon saw me and they’ve been staying in contact and building a relationship. Obviously, I’ve been there three times. So I’ve kind of built that relationship with them and just keeping that going until I make my decision.

Sularski also said he hasn’t visited Marquette yet, but has been in contact with their staff and plans on continuing to build a strong relationship with their program.

With the transfer portal and coaching movement around the country in the current landscape of college basketball, Sularski feels its important to consistently communicate with all the schools and staffs that are recruiting him.

“Just keep making relationships with all the schools and staying in contact with all of them,” Sularski said. “My goal is always to play freshman year. So that’s always going to be a goal of what school I’m looking into, playing freshman year.”

Sularski is a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 85 overall player in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports.
