Marquette landed a commitment from four-star forward Alex Egbuonu on Thursday, ON3’s Joe Tipton announced. The 6-foot-6 forward from Lawrence Academy (MA) chose the Golden Eagles over Villanova, Stanford and Boston College.
Egbuonu is a long and athletic forward and has the frame of a football player. He is explosive off the dribble and an elite finisher around the rim. Egbuonu spent his summer with BABC of the 3SSB circuit, where he led the circuit in scoring with 22.7 points per game.
Thought he’s not a consistent outside scorer yet, his ability to create mismatches and get to the rim give him a sky-high ceiling.
Egbuonu is Shaka Smart and Marquette’s third commit in the class of 2026. He joins Ethan Johnston and Nash Walker in the class, thus far.
He is a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 74 overall prospect in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports.
