Giannis Antetokounmpo will likely address his future with the Milwaukee Bucks in the coming weeks as the team faces a challenging road ahead after the Damian Lillard injury.
“I don’t think Giannis wants to leave Milwaukee, but he might have to,” said Brian Windhorst on Get Up. “Because of the Dame Lillard injury. The fact the Bucks have a whole bunch of free agents in their thirties. They’re in the repeater tax. They’re drowning in red ink. They’ve traded away control of their next six first round picks. It’s a very difficult situation. Maybe there’s some sort of way this team can restock around him at age 30. I don’t happen to see it.
“I want to draw your attention to one week from Monday. That’s the NBA draft lottery. The Cooper Flagg lottery… I want to point two teams out to you: the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. Both of them are in the lottery.”
Windhorst suggested that if either team moves up in the lottery, their position for a potential Antetokounmpo could substantially improve. Both the Spurs and Rockets have a number of future draft capital and young players they could offer in a trade package for Antetokounmpo.
