The Bucks get the W in the Beehive State
The Milwaukee Bucks led throughout against the Utah Jazz, grabbing the 125-110 win. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard combined for a whopping 70 points against the substandard Jazz defence. It was an even attack for Utah, but Collin Sexton was probably their best performer, with 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Game Recap
It was yet another relatively rusty start for the Bucks, but the Jazz defence was so poor that it didn’t really matter. Milwaukee got out on the fastbreak multiple times early, punctuated by an AJax hammer and a Giannis poster. Khris Middleton, coming off a down game against the Clippers, was able to get to his sweet spots backing down the shorter Jazz guards. At the end of one, the Bucks led 35-26.
Middleton continued to cook to start the second, but the Jazz were able to keep it close behind 30 points from their bench at the half. Namely, Keyonte George and Brice Sensabaugh combined to go 6/10 from deep as Milwaukee routinely lost them off the ball. Even so, Milwaukee’s size allowed them to grab the 68-59 lead at half behind a 38-22 edge in points in the paint.
Giannis got the visitors off the mark with a few mid-range jimmies, followed by a Dame triple in transition to force the Jazz TO. Then the Bucks were finally able to get some consecutive stops and create some separation, getting the lead up to 20 behind attacks to the rim from Brook, Giannis, and Dame. The run was punctuated by an insane jam from Jackson, and the Bucks were having fun from there, leading 100-80 at the end of three.
Middleton got the Bucks off the mark with a lefty floater of the glass, followed by another Lopez backdown. A pair of threes in which Jordan Clarkson did the most insane foul-baiting I think I’ve ever seen went in, remarkably. And then AJax inexplicably attempted to take the ball full court and turned the ball over for the Jazz fast-break dunk. Doc was not happy, calling the timeout with the lead reduced to 15. The Jazz threatened to get the lead under 10 a few times but never did, and the Bucks ran away with it.
Stat That Stood Out
The Bucks were simply way too big for the Jazz tonight, destroying them in paint points, 64-42. Giannis really just had his way with them, going 16/23 from the field; most of those makes came on the inside, obviously.
