Despite leading the Milwaukee Bucks to an NBA title in 2021, the belief remains that Giannis Antetokounmpo will not finish his career with the team. Some recent comments he made will certainly further feed into that narrative.
Appearing on the 48 Minutes podcast, Giannis said that while he is a Milwaukee Buck, he values winning more. He said that if there is a better situation for him to win a title, he’ll pursue it.
“I’m a Milwaukee Buck, but most importantly I’m a winner…” Giannis said. “If there is a better situation for me to win the Larry O’Brien I have to take that better situation.”
Many fans believe that these comments are a pretty clear sign that he will no re-sign with the Bucks when his current contract expires. Others are already trying to figure out which team he’ll play for next.
He might as well have just said… “I’m leaving the Bucks at the end of this contract”

Nothing about this comment gives me confidence he intends to retire a Milwaukee Buck.

If Giannis Antetokounmpo does ever hit free agency it’ll lead to a massive balance of power in the NBA – possibly on the level of Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors or LeBron James joining the Miami Heat.
But there’s still time for Giannis and the Bucks to set aside their differences and come to terms on a deal to keep him in Milwaukee for the rest of his prime.
Will Giannis finish his career with the Bucks?
