Two teams that came in with high expectations now find themselves in very different spots
The Milwaukee Bucks attempt to win two on that trot as they face the Philadelphia 76ers tonight. Somehow, the Bucks still are a realistic chance to grab the five-seed, while the Sixers are… not trying their hardest to win, shall we say. Milwaukee has beaten Philly in all three games this season.
Where We’re At
The Bucks just snapped a four-game losing streak, which began at the end of their West Coast trip against the Phoenix Suns and concluded at home on Tuesday night against those very same Suns. Sandwiched in between were Ls to the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, and Atlanta Hawks. The win against the Suns was both encouraging (they shot a franchise-record 68.9% from the field) and worrying (they committed 18 TOs, gave up 15 offensive rebounds, and shot 18 less FGAs than the Suns).
As I foreshadowed above, the Sixers are tanking their asses off. Quentin Grimes has been doing his best to have them win a few games, but to no avail—they’ve lost nine straight. Philly’s roster looks closer to a G League team than an NBA team at this point (and I would know). Moving on.
Injury Report
Same injury report as the last game for the Bucks. Lillard (right calf deep vein thrombosis), Sims (right thumb UCL sprain), and Portis (league suspension) are all out. AJ Green (right AC joint sprain) is questionable, and Giannis (left foot sprain) is probable.
Goodness me. OK, the following players are out for the 76ers: Andre Drummond, Joel Embiid, Paul George, Eric Gordon, Kyle Lowry, Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, and Kelly Oubre Jr. Guerschon Yabusele is questionable.
Player To Watch
Like I mentioned above, Quentin Grimes has been going crazy for these guys. Since he got to Philly, he’s averaging 22 points and 4.3 assists on 38% from three. If the 76ers are any chance to win tonight, Grimes will need to be really good.
