Milwaukee Bucks vs. Orlando Magic Preview: The marathon continues

Milwaukee begins night one of this important back-to-back

The Milwaukee Bucks face the Orlando Magic tonight in the first leg of an important back-to-back. So far, the Bucks have played the Magic three times (including the NBA Cup game semifinal) and won all three games.

Where We’re At

As has been well documented, the Bucks are rolling, winners of eight of their last nine games. Most recently, they beat the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks (twice), and the Atlanta Hawks. Jon Horst’s deadline acquisitions have fit in pretty damn well, all things considered. And to add to the vibes, Giannis celebrated reaching 20,000 points in their most recent blowout over Big D.

Things have not been going as swimmingly down in Orlando, losers of six of seven. Jalen Suggs’ injury has especially really hurt their ability to score. Over their last three, the Magic have lost to the Toronto Raptors twice, and the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. Although they have succeeded in other statistical categories over recent seasons, they remain very subpar at three-point shooting. They currently rank dead last in three-point percentage at 30.6%, as well as 24th in attempts.

Injury Report

For the Bucks, Giannis (left calf strain) and Dame (left eye contusion) are both probable. Gary Trent Jr. (right knee hyperextension) is doubtful. Bobby Portis (league suspension), Pat Connaughton (left calf strain), and Pete Nance (left ankle sprain) are out.

For the Magic, Jalen Suggs (left knee trochlea cartilage tear) and Mo Wagner (left knee torn ACL) are both out.

Player To Watch

Franz Wagner has not yet played a game against the Bucks this season. The rising star has probably not yet hit his straps in terms of shooting efficiency but presents many challenges as a 6’10” playmaker—as does Paolo Banchero.
