The Bucks begin another road trip with another tough game
The Milwaukee Bucks will tonight lick their wounds and front up against the Oklahoma City Thunder on the second night of a brutal back-to-back. We all know what happened in the first matchup between these teams in the NBA Cup championship game: the Bucks celebrated the first banner of the Giannis/Dame era! Maybe Milwaukee can rediscover some of the same mojo they had on that glorious night in mid-December.
Where We’re At
Well, things are not exactly going well for the Bucks lately; they’ve lost three straight games to the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Memphis Grizzlies. Milwaukee owns the worst defence in the league over the last five games. Not having a third big is causing major issues for the team right now. Brook looks exhausted, Giannis is playing out of his comfort zone on both ends of the floor, and they’re getting killed on the rebounds (dead last in defensive rebounding percentage over the last five games). Moving on!
If it makes Bucks fans feel any better, the Thunder have also hit a few roadblocks recently, going 2-2 in their last four games. They’ve lost to the Luka-less (when he was still on the roster, of course) Dallas Mavericks and the ever-fluctuating Golden State Warriors. On the other hand, they’ve beaten the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings. Against the Warriors, OKC shot 9/39 from three (23.1%); they also shot horrendously against the Bucks in that NBA Cup championship game. Maybe Milwaukee can catch this crew on another off night?
Injury Report
For the Thunder, Jalen Williams (right wrist sprain), Cason Wallace (right shoulder sprain), and Alex Caruso (left ankle sprain) are questionable. Nikola Topić (left knee surgery), Chet Holmgren (right iliac wing fracture), and Ajay Mitchell (right great toe surgery) are out.
Coming off the back-to-back, the Bucks will submit their first injury report at 1:00 p.m. local time.
Player To Watch
Aaron Wiggins, the 55th pick in the 2021 draft, is coming off a career-high 41 points on 16/30 shooting and 6/14 from three. With Jalen Williams questionable, Wiggins could be a big factor tonight too. Side note: Sam Presti is a menace, man.
