Milwaukee Bucks vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Cup Preview: Bucks return to the table

Another trip to Vegas, hopefully with a better end

This afternoon, the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks will face off for a spot in the NBA Cup Final on Tuesday. The two teams last played each other 10 days ago, with the Hawks winning 119-104, and Milwaukee will look to get their revenge.

Where We’re At

Vegas, baby!! The Bucks return to the T-Mobile Arena for the Semifinals of the NBA Cup, just as they did last year. They won their group and then had an exciting, although stressful, victory against the Orlando Magic. Milwaukee has won their last two games and hopefully has a better game plan against Atlanta this time after a defeat in their previous matchup. With the role players stepping up and Giannis still healthy, Milwaukee will look to do what they couldn’t last year: win the semifinal and make the NBA Cup Final.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are playing some of the season’s best basketball. They’ve won seven of their last ten games, including a win against the Bucks at Fiserv Forum. As we saw in their previous matchup, Atlanta dominated Milwaukee on the fast break and in the points in the paint category, outscoring them 30-12 and 64-34, respectively. Now, the Bucks had played the previous night, but the Hawks showed that the role players around Trae Young have the Bucks’ number.

Injury Report

For Milwaukee, Giannis (right patella tendinopathy), Khris Middleton (bilateral ankle surgery), and MarJon Beauchamp (last hamstring tendinopathy) are all probable.

The Hawks have listed Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and De’Andre Hunter as probable, while Jalen Johnson is questionable with an ankle sprain. Cody Zeller remains away from the team.

Player To Watch

We are eight days since Khris Middleton’s return, and he has been ok. Unsurprisingly, he hasn’t yet gotten back to the Khash we know and love as a scorer or shooter. But Atlanta has plenty of firepower off the bench, and Khris will be needed to help match or surpass their production.
