Mark Jackson Is Reportedly Interviewing For Prominent Job

Mark Jackson is reportedly in the mix for a return to the NBA sidelines.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Milwaukee Bucks will interview Jackson for their head-coaching vacancy. Although he led them to a championship in 2021, the Bucks fired Mike Budenholzer after a shocking first-round exit as the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed.

The Milwaukee Bucks are interviewing former Golden State coach Mark Jackson for their open head coaching job, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Jackson, who had a .526 winning percentage in three seasons as Warriors coach, was a finalist for the Kings job last year.

Jackson has not coached since the Golden State Warriors fired him in 2014. He turned around a team in turmoil by taking Golden State to the conference semifinals in 2013, but an ensuing 51-win season ended in an opening-round elimination.

The Warriors have since won four championships behind Steve Kerr.

Following his ousting, Jackson since worked as a prominent NBA broadcaster for ABC and NBC. The former point guard recently made headlines for leaving Nikola Jokic off his MVP ballot. He apologized for the “absolute mistake” of omitting the Denver Nuggets star.

The upcoming interview won’t be Jackson’s first attempt at a coaching comeback. He was a finalist for the Sacramento Kings job last year, which ultimately went to Mike Brown.
