The Bucks’ legendary broadcaster has an optimistic and perhaps bold prediction about this season too
You knew that before long, the Johnsons would welcome a certain old friend on their podcast, and this week it finally dropped. Longtime Bucks play-by-play man and friend of the site Jim Paschke dropped by the Hear District for a really fun interview with Marques and Kris, touching on a whole slew of topics that fans who have followed the team throughout the Giannis years will surely enjoy. As always, Jim is an oracle of both basketball and life, with years of wisdom that I always feel fortunate to hear.
Of course, no conversation with Jim would be complete without discussing his special relationship with Giannis. Without spoiling it too much, and even having heard Jim discuss his interactions over the years with Giannis before, I thought it was fascinating to hear just how different that player-broadcaster relationship was to Jim as compared to others from his 35 years with the team. Speaking of player-broadcaster relationships, we learn more about how Marques and Jim were paired up in the audition process. Just like how all of us at Brew Hoop feel about our interactions with Jim, Marques recognizes how meaningful Jim’s presence has been to us as people around the game of basketball.
Not to bury the lede too much, but Jim also has some reflections on the 2024 NBA Cup and the Bucks’ 2021 NBA Championship, which came in his final year with the team. You’ll want to hear his take on how he views this current team’s ceiling. Once Jim leaves, the Johnsons break down some video from the Cup Final.
You can also listen to the episode on bucks.com/plus and the podcast platforms below, where we encourage you to subscribe to Hear District.
One bonus pod for you this week from the good folks at Bucks+ too: a Bobby Portis interview with Gale Klappa.
