Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Brutally Honest Comment After Winning NBA Title

July 21, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Giannis Antetokounmpo celebrates the NBA title.

On Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Bucks took down the Phoenix Suns by a final score of 105-98 en route to winning the NBA title.

Giannis Antetokounmpo put on an incredible show in Game 6, dominating the Suns from the opening whistle. The Greek Freak racked up 50 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and two assists on the night.

After lifting his team to a title, Giannis had a brutally honest message for the rest of the league. The Bucks won a title without creating a superteam – something Antetokounmpo made sure to point out.

“Coming back, I was like, ‘This is my city. They trust me. They believe in me. They believe in us.’ … Obviously I wanted to get the job done,” he said after winning the title. “But that’s my stubborn side. It’s easy to go somewhere and go win a championship with somebody else. It’s easy. … I could go to a super team and just do my part and win a championship.”

“But this is the hard way to do it,” he continued, pounding the dais for emphasis, “and this is the way to do it, and we did it. We f—ing did it.”

Antetokounmpo took home the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award after averaging 35 points, 13 rebounds and five assists per game.

It’s safe to say he won’t be recruiting any other superstars to Milwaukee in the near future.
