Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant Confirmed For November Clash

August 24, 2021 by The Sports Fan Journal Leave a Comment

A blockbuster boxing match is set for November, with a super-middleweight showdown between Canelo Alvarez & Caleb Plant. All of the super-middleweight titles will be on the line – who will become the undisputed super-middleweight king?

On November 6, in Las Vegas, the stage is well and truly set. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will go toe-to-toe with Caleb Plant, with everything on the line. With Canelo putting his three super-middleweight belts on the line, Plant will step between the ropes with his IBF title also part of the bout.

This is going to be an extremely highly-anticipated clash, and could arguably be fight of the year. Will Alvarez stamp his name as the undisputed, unified super-middleweight crown? Or will American Caleb Plant upset the odds, and crown himself king of the division?

Canelo Alvarez – Pound-for-Pound King

Considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers active right now, Canelo has his sights set on the final belt. After a huge victory earlier this year against Brit Billy Joe Saunders, Alvarez added one more belt to his current collection.

Now, the Mexican holds the WBA, WBC & WBO belts, as well as The Ring Magazine belt. In his astounding record, Canelo has only lost once in his career – a decision defeat to Floyd Money Mayweather Jr. As well as his 56 wins – 38 by KO – there’s no doubt that Alvarez will be looking to add another win to his tally, as well as the last remaining belt to the super-middleweight collection.

Caleb Plant – “I’m Ready to Become Undisputed”

American super-middleweight Caleb Plant introduced himself to the boxing world in 2014, and has worked his way up the rankings to be current IBF super-middleweight champion. Currently unbeaten with a 21-0 record, with 12 via KO, Plant’s latest win came back in January of this year.

Defending his IBF crown against Caleb Traux, Plant came away victorious via unanimous decision. Now, he is ready to face the challenge of Canelo Alvarez. In a recent interview, Plant said: “This is an opportunity I’ve been wanting and asking for, but it was able to come through, and I’m happy about that. I’m totally locked in and focused, and I’m ready to become undisputed.

“He’s a good fighter, but there’s no way he’s better than me, and I truly believe that in my heart” claimed Plant – a very controversial statement indeed. With that said, this is certainly the right frame of mind to be in, as you can’t step into a boxing ring with Canelo Alvarez and have any doubts.
