Also, who should start at the point?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Milwaukee Bucks fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
The Bucks’ backcourt seems pretty settled once the upcoming addition of Cole Anthony occurs (he clears waivers tomorrow), on paper at least. They needed another ballhandler, and they got one who fits with the new youthful, up-tempo identity that GM Jon Horst is clearly trying to establish around Giannis. Factor in the returns of Ryan Rollins, Kevin Porter Jr. (more on Anthony and those two in a minute), and Gary Trent Jr., the Gary Harris signing, plus AJ Green sticking around, and that looks like a solid enough backcourt rotation.
But if there’s one thing Milwaukee still needs in this post-Damian Lillard (and Khris Middleton) era, it’s scoring, particularly on the wing, though it would be preferable to have that production from someone who plays the three. So it’s no surprise they’ve been connected to Bradley Beal recently, as the former All-Star guard continues to work on a buyout from Phoenix. It’s seemingly been dragging on, but Beal is due a 25% advance payment on his 2025–26 salary today, so now that he’s received it, the two sides may now be able to agree on a figure, and he’ll hit the market. The Clippers have been connected to him the most, but they can’t offer too much more in salary—only the taxpayer midlevel exception of $5.7m—than what the Bucks have remaining on their room exception: about $3.7m.
Now I turn it over to you: should the Bucks go after Beal? And while we’re talking about the backcourt, with the new addition of Anthony, who should start at the one? A few weeks ago, 65% of voters felt the Bucks needed a different starting point guard after KPJ was re-signed. Is Anthony that guy? Rollins re-upped since then too—could it be him? Let us know below.
