The Milwaukee Bucks were linked with a trade for Ja Morant at the trade deadline and numerous teams believe their interest was genuine. The Bucks could view Morant as a gettable high profile star to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo that could possibly help convince their franchise player to stay, or even as a possible replacement should a trade of the two-time MVP materialize in the offseason.
Morant had limited trade value leading to the deadline and it is unlikely there is a swing in that perception going into the offseason. The Sacramento Kings only showed “most interest” and the Miami Heat were not actively pursuing Morant as Antetokounmpo was their primary target.
The Grizzlies could find more movement with Morant’s market once the Antetokounmpo situation becomes resolved.
Morant, who is currently out with a sprained elbow, has only appeared in 20 games this season and has averaged 19.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 8.1 assists in 28.4 minutes. Morant’s PER has dropped from 24.4 in 2021-22 to 23.2, 20.2, 19.3 and now 16.2 this season. Morant is signed until the 2028 offseason.
