Bucks Draft Workout Round-Up: Hello, Hansen Yang

June 18, 2025 by Brew Hoop

Milwaukee’s latest batch of draft workout participants includes a player quickly rising on draft boards

We’re back with another Bucks draft workout round-up! With less than two weeks before draft night, teams are likely starting to finalize their draft boards, but the Bucks are still putting in work. They’ve brought in five more prospects for workouts since our last update. As a reminder, the team has the 47th overall pick in this year’s draft (we recently began a series covering prospects the Bucks should be targeting with that pick—read the first edition here after you’ve read this piece!)

Here’s a breakdown of each of Milwaukee’s latest workout participants:

Hansen Yang

Height: 7’2”

Position: Center

Pre-draft team: Qingdao Eagles (CBA)

Projected draft range: Second round

Realistic Bucks target? Maybe

Yang has been one of the biggest post-combine risers in this year’s class. A combination of his performance in Chicago, his physical tools, and his past pedigree as a prospect has seen him rise firmly into the second round of mocks. Some people even view him as a first-round talent. Therefore, it’s tough to guarantee he’ll be available when the Bucks step up to the plate at pick 47.

The Chinese center is super skilled for his size. He’s a high-feel passer who can orchestrate offenses from the top of the key. He has a lot of finesse to his game and can finish with soft touch in the post. Yang also has some floor-spacing upside; he’s respectable from the mid-range and can hit threes when he has space and time. Yang’s current shooting bag is comparable to Zach Edey’s, but he could get better with time. Defensively, Yang uses his humongous frame to shut down the paint as a stationary rim protector/drop coverage big. He blocked 2.7 shots and grabbed 0.9 steals per game in the CBA this past season.

Spoiler alert: we’ll have more thoughts on Yang coming soon in the big man edition of the 47th pick target series.

Norchad Omier

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament First Round-Baylor at Mississippi State
Zachary Taft-Imagn Images

Height: 6’7”

Position: Forward

School: Baylor

Year: Graduate

Projected draft range: Undrafted

Realistic Bucks target? Yes

Norchad Omier is a seven-footer in a forward’s body. The 6’7” graduate averaged 10.8 RPG for Baylor last season, leading the Big 12 and finishing sixth in the entire country in that category. An insane 4.1 of those boards came on the offensive end. Omier is bouncy, strong, and plays hard, allowing him to be not only an incredible rebounder but also an impactful defender and play-finisher.

The question here is: how valuable is a 6’7” center? The answer is not very (see 2020 P.J. Tucker), so Omier would have to play more forward next to a true big man in the NBA. He’ll need to shoot the three better than 29.0% on two attempts per game to be successful as a forward. If he doesn’t improve his jumper, he could still be a Jarred Vanderbilt-type player, but that would put a serious cap on how much he could play in high-leverage games. Defenses ignore Vanderbilt and could do the same with Omier, making him a liability.

Jabri Abdur-Rahim

NCAA Basketball: Providence at St. John

Height: 6’7”

Position: Forward

School: Providence

Year: Graduate

Projected draft range: Undrafted

Realistic Bucks target? Yes

The aforementioned Omier is everything but a stretch four. Jabri Abdur-Rahim, on the other hand, is almost exclusively a stretch four. The son of former All-Star Shareef Abdur-Rahim has made a name for himself by doing what his father couldn’t: consistently hitting outside jumpers. Jabri hit 36.6% of his triples as a graduate, which isn’t a standout number, but he attempted over four per game in just 16 minutes per contest. Usually, volume is a pretty good indicator for shot projection.

Abdur-Rahim’s volume when it comes to everything outside of shooting, though, is not so encouraging. He attempted 0.7 twos and 2.2 free throws per game as a graduate. He never averaged one full assist in any of his five college seasons. The New Jersey native has the size to be an adequate defender and rebounder, but he’ll need to ramp up his contributions in those areas if he’s going to stick in the league. Being a specialist just doesn’t get guys very far anymore.

Taelon Peter

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament First Round-Liberty at Oregon
Stephen Brashear-Imagn Images

Height: 6’4”

Position: Guard

School: Liberty

Year: Graduate

Projected draft range: Undrafted

Realistic Bucks target? Yes

Peter worked hard to put himself on professional radars. After barely seeing the floor as a freshman at Tennessee Tech, he went down to Division II for three years to work on his game and prepare himself for a DI comeback. He then transferred to Liberty as a graduate, balled out, won Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year, and made an All-CUSA team. Now, he’s working out for NBA teams.

So many guards in today’s game can score, but it’s the guys who can do it efficiently who separate themselves from the crowd. Not only did Peter shoot 45.3% from three on good volume at Liberty, he also led his conference with a 75.6% conversion rate inside the arc. The Arkansas native is a nice vertical athlete who throws down dunks comfortably and gets after it on the defensive glass. All in all, Peter is an intriguing Summer League/two-way contract candidate.

Muodubem Muoneke

Height: 6’5”

Position: Guard

School: Green Bay

Year: Junior

Projected draft range: Undrafted

Realistic Bucks target? Yes

Muodubem Muoneke is a mystery man. Very little information on his game can be found on the internet, and his amateur basketball career does not suggest he can make it to the big leagues. In three years of college basketball, the former highly-rated high school recruit averaged just 4.4 MPG and 1.8 PPG. At the end of the 2024–25 collegiate season, he joined a lower-tier Spanish basketball team and averaged 14 points in five games. Is he a truly hidden gem? Maybe! Should the Bucks take any more time to find out? Well, probably not.

Hansen Yang is currently ranked 35th on ESPN’s top 100 big board. Norchad Omier is 95th. The other three guys are not ranked. Yang was picked 39th in Yahoo Sports’ latest mock draft, 41st in ESPN’s, and 43rd in Bleacher Report’s.
