What the Jacob Misiorowski Call-Up Could Mean for the Brewers

June 11, 2025 by Last Word On Baseball

Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski has been the Milwaukee Brewers prospect with the most immediate potential and the top candidate for a call-up from Triple-A. Now, according to reports, he has finally been called up to the big league roster and is expected to make his first appearance on Thursday, June 12th, highlighting both his readiness and the organization’s confidence in his abilities.

What Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski Adds to the Milwaukee Brewers Staff

Misiorowski possesses one of the most electric arms in the minors, with a fastball that has touched 103 mph and consistently sits in the triple digits. He pairs this with a plus-plus curveball and slider, giving him multiple weapons to attack hitters.

In Triple-A this season, Misiorowski has posted a 2.13 ERA over 63⅓ innings, striking out 80 batters while holding opponents to a .172 average. He has demonstrated excellent home-run prevention in the minors, allowing just 14 homers to 998 hitters faced. These numbers show his dominance at the Triple-A level and readiness for the next level. His arsenal also includes a curveball, changeup, slider, cutter, and sinker, all graded as above average.

Misiorowski is a prime example of the new era of strikeout pitchers and their importance for sealing victories, especially in tight games. His extreme strikeout rates and ability to limit hits help mitigate concerns about his command, which has been the primary knock on his profile. The Brewers have also faced injuries and turnover in their rotation, cycling through a dozen starters already this season. Misiorowski’s call-up is both a response to need and a testament to his readiness to contribute at the MLB level.

How He Can Help the Brewers Contend for the NL Central

The Brewers’ rotation has been strong, putting up a second-best ERA in the NL at 3.35, despite a wave of injuries to key starters like Brandon Woodruff, Nestor Cortes, and Jose Quintana. A potential future ace, Misiorowski’s addition should provide much-needed depth and upside, allowing the Brewers to either strengthen their rotation or move struggling arms to the bullpen for better matchups. With Milwaukee using their 13th different starter this season, his presence can stabilize the rotation and reduce the strain on the bullpen.

Misiorowski should also help the Brewers against division rivals, and he is set to debut against the St. Louis Cardinals, a direct competitor in the NL Central race. A strong showing in these crucial head-to-head games could swing the standings and build momentum for the Brewers as they chase the division-leading Chicago Cubs.

If Misiorowski adapts quickly, he has the potential to be a difference-maker not only as a starter but also as a high-leverage reliever if needed, especially if he faces challenges going deep into games. His presence gives the Brewers flexibility to optimize their pitching staff for both the regular season and a potential postseason run.
