Milwaukee’s pitching depth continues to take a hit
Brewers left-handed pitcher Wade Miley is expected to miss the next 10-12 months after getting Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL, MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy reported Friday afternoon.
Bad news for Wade Miley and the Brewers: The 37-year-old lefty needs Tommy John surgery. He’ll spend the next 10-12 months rehabbing and then decide whether to continue his career.

The news is just the latest in a long line of injuries to Milwaukee’s pitchers, as DL Hall (sprained knee), J.B. Bukauskas (right shoulder inflammation), Jakob Junis (right shoulder impingement and neck injury), Taylor Clarke (right knee meniscus tear), Devin Williams (back stress fracture), and Brandon Woodruff (right shoulder surgery) are all shelved with various injuries.
Miley, 37, said he is leaning toward a comeback after the surgery, per McCalvy.
Right now, Wade Miley is leaning toward trying a comeback from elbow surgery.
“I’ve always said I want to go out on my own [terms],” he said. “I still feel like I’ve got more in the tank.”

With Miley now out for the season, the rotation behind Freddy Peralta is as unclear as ever. The team has a variety of options both on the major league roster and in the minors, including veterans Colin Rea, Joe Ross, and Junis. Hall figures to get another chance despite early-season struggles, and other veterans like Bryse Wilson and Aaron Ashby will also be in the mix. Tobias Myers and Robert Gasser, who has yet to make an MLB appearance, could also be options for manager Pat Murphy.
Only time will tell as pitchers across the league continue to face a myriad of injuries less than a month into the season.
