Tobias Myers recalled, Jake Bauers reinstated from bereavement list to fill roster spots
The Brewers have placed left-handed pitcher Wade Miley on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to his last start on April 19, with left elbow inflammation. The team also optioned Andruw Monasterio to Triple-A Nashville, recalled right-handed pitcher Tobias Myers from Triple-A, and reinstated Jake Bauers from the bereavement list.

Miley, who was scheduled to start Tuesday’s game against the Pirates, heads to the IL for the second time this season. He opened up the year on the injured list with a left shoulder injury, keeping him out until April 10. In two starts this year, he’s 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA and two strikeouts across seven innings pitched.
Manager Pat Murphy said over the weekend that Bryse Wilson and Robert Gasser were both candidates to fill in for the injured DL Hall when he went down with a sprained knee. It’s possible that both will now get an opportunity, which would mark Gasser’s MLB debut. It should be noted that Gasser is returning from an arm injury himself, making two extended spring training appearances earlier this month.
Myers was called up last Wednesday and made no appearances before being sent back to Nashville on Thursday. In four appearances (three starts) with the Sounds this season, Myers has a 1.62 ERA and 22 strikeouts across 16 2⁄3 innings.
Bauers was placed on the bereavement list on Friday, missing the series against the Cardinals. In 12 games with Milwaukee this season, he’s hitting .158/.220/.316 (50 OPS+) with one homer, eight RBIs, six hits, and six runs scored.
Monasterio has struggled in limited playing time with the Brewers this season, going 0-for-7 with two walks across four games. We’ll almost certainly see him back in the majors this season, but he’ll get regular playing time with the Sounds in the meantime.
