MLB: Kansas City Royals at Milwaukee Brewers

A couple of homers by Royals’ hitters off the scoreboard in centerfield seal the Brewers fate

With the Milwaukee Bucks playing for an NBA title tonight, the Brewers moved their game up to 3:10 CT in the hopes of that they could be the opening act of what could be a very special day in Milwaukee. Well it could still be a special day in Milwaukee, but the Brewers failed on their end as the Royals beat them 5-2.

Kansas City got it going right off the bat. Whit Merrifield led the game off with a single, and then he was awarded second base when Brewers’ starter, Brett Anderson, balked. He went to third on a single by Carlos Santana and scored on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Benintendi to make it 1-0.

The Brewers answered in the bottom of the second. Avisail Garcia led the inning off with a single. Tyrone Taylor followed with a walk. Both would come around to score later in the inning on a Manny Pina single that put the Brew Crew on top. That would not last long.

The Royals hitters decided to start hitting the score board in centerfield a couple times. The first time came in the top of the fourth when Jorge Soler crushed his 8th homer of the season to tie the game. The second time came with a man on in the top of the seventh. Ryan O’ Hearn blasted his 7th of the season, and the Brewers were down 4-2. The Royals would add one more in the top of the eighth as Brewers’ reliever, Miguel Sanchez, struggled to get through the inning.

These two teams go at it agains tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 CT. The Brewers send Eric Lauer to the mound. The Royals will pitch Brad Keller. The game can be heard on WTMJ 620 and the Brewers Radio Network. It can be seen on Bally Sports Wisconsin.
