Report: Brewers Call Up Triple-Digit Fireballer Jacob Misiorowski

June 11, 2025 by Last Word On Baseball

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers have summoned their No. 4 prospect, right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, to the major leagues, sources confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday. The 23-year-old flamethrower, renowned for a fastball that reached 103 mph this season, will inject excitement into a Brewers rotation battered by injuries. Misiorowski, ranked No. 68 on the top 100 by MLB Pipeline, will likely debut Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park.

Report: Brewers Calling Up Jacob Misiorowski

Electric Arsenal Ready for Majors

Misiorowski wields a devastating arsenal that leaves hitters helpless. His four-seam fastball, consistently hitting 97-99 mph and occasionally touching triple digits, gains elite extension from his towering 6-foot-7 frame. “His fastball is an 80-grade pitch, with rise and run that makes it nearly impossible to hit,” said MLB.com’s Jim Callis. Furthermore, his mid-80s curveball, considered the best in the minors, produces whiffs with sharp two-plane break, while a low-90s slider doubles as a biting cutter. Recently, he honed a circle changeup, adding another weapon to his already formidable repertoire. “That changeup’s development solidifies his potential as a starter, not just a reliever,” Callis added.

Jacob Misiorowski is finally a big leaguer!

The hard-throwing righty, who’s drawn comparisons to deGrom, has been lighting up Triple-A with an electric fastball and superb secondary pitches.

Blazing Through the Minors

The Brewers selected Misiorowski in the second round from Crowder College in 2022. In 2023, he recorded a 3.41 ERA with 110 strikeouts across 20 starts spanning Single-A, High-A, and Double-A. Last year, he delivered a 3.33 ERA and 127 strikeouts over 97 1/3 innings at Double-A and Triple-A. This season, he dominated Triple-A Nashville, recording a 2.13 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 13 games, including an impressive .175 batting average against. On May 15, he unleashed six consecutive 100-plus mph pitches, capping the sequence with a 103-mph strikeout. “He embodies the term ‘power pitcher,’” said Brewers GM Matt Arnold.

Refining the Wild Flame

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski tosses a football while waiting for a drill during spring training workouts Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at American Family Fields of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.

Jacob Misiorowski’s electrifying stuff comes with a caveat: control issues have occasionally plagued his young career. Early in his minor league journey, he averaged 5.4 walks per nine innings, a byproduct of his high-octane fastball and breaking pitches that sometimes eluded the strike zone. In 2023, he walked 12.3% of batters faced, often struggling to harness his 6-foot-7 frame’s mechanics. However, Misiorowski has shown progress, cutting his walk rate to 10.8% in 2025 at Triple-A Nashville over his last nine starts. But, with a 12.6% walk rate on the year, his control will continue to raise concerns as a starter. “He’s learning to tame the beast,” said Baseball America’s Brady Farkas, noting his command. “When he’s locked in, his stuff is untouchable.”

Timely Boost for Brewers

With Freddy Peralta and Jose Quintana leading the rotation, and injuries sidelining Aaron Civale, Brandon Woodruff, and others, Misiorowski’s arrival is critical. Although Quinn Priester and Tobias Myers have impressed in their roles, Misiorowski’s electric arm could anchor Milwaukee’s staff. “He’s primed to make an impact,” Farkas said. As the Brewers, holding a 35-32 record, pursue a wild-card berth, Misiorowski’s debut could spark a hot streak.
