Knee injury will sideline Tellez for at least two weeks
Rowdy Tellez is on the 10-day IL with a right patella strain. The Brewers announced the move on Sunday morning after an MRI confirmed the injury. To fill the gap in the roster, Luke Maile is active again after being optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

The patella strain is the outcome of an injury that’s been bothering Tellez for some time and became unmanageable after Tellez tweaked his knee running the bases in Saturday night’s game against Cleveland.
The injury could quiet the Rowdy chants for the rest of the regular season. According to manager Craig Counsell, as reported by Tom Haudricourt, Tellez will rest for a minimum of two weeks before the team reassesses his play readiness. His absence could extend beyond that period. In his time with Milwaukee, Tellez has become a fan favorite, slashing .270/.329/.803 with 7 home runs.
Daniel Vogelbach is the obvious choice to hold down first base in Tellez’ absence. To give Vogelbach days off in the home stretch, a 14-game division lead allows the Brewers room to plug in players who have been contributors for the team this season, but aren’t particularly practiced at first base, at least at the major league level. This includes Jace Peterson, Eduardo Escobar, and roster replacement Luke Maile.
