Left shoulder impingement sends Quintana to the 15-day injured list
Milwaukee placed starter Jose Quintana on the IL this morning with a left shoulder impingement. The veteran lefty, who sports a 2.65 ERA through six starts with the Brewers, had apparently developed “shoulder discomfort” before his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee will recall the recently optioned Tobias Myers to take his spot in the rotation.
Quintana’s move is backdated to May 11, which means that he’ll miss at least one scheduled start — this Saturday against the Twins at home. Notably, Brandon Woodruff was scheduled to return for that start. However, he got pulled from his last rehab start due to an ankle injury.
Hopefully, it’s nothing serious for Quintana, who now joins five other potential Brewers starting pitching options — Woodruff, DL Hall (left lat), Aaron Ashby (right oblique), Aaron Civale (left hamstring), and Nestor Cortes (left elbow) — on the IL.
