Star prospect Misiorowski makes his debut
Star prospect Jacob Misiorowski is set to make his much-anticipated debut in tonight’s series kickoff against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Misiorowski, at 23 years old, is the team’s top pitching prospect and MLB’s No. 68 overall prospect. He’s widely known for his triple-digit fastball, an electric arm set to reinforce the Milwaukee rotation. He has lit up Triple-A this year with a 2.13 ERA in 63 1⁄3 innings, highlighted by 80 strikeouts.
On the opposite side, he’ll have to face off against Sonny Gray, who is entering his hottest stretch of the season. In his last two games, he pitched a combined 13 1⁄3 innings without allowing a run against the Rangers and Dodgers. Four of his past six outings overall have been a clean bill as Gray has now worked his season ERA down to 3.35.
For the Brewers lineup, Sal Frelick bats leadoff, followed by Jackson Chourio. William Contreras and Christian Yelich follow directly behind. Yelich is back in the lineup after missing a few games with wrist discomfort, but hopefully he’s good to go after some rest.
Rhys Hoskins, Isaac Collins, and Brice Turang are next, with Caleb Durbin and Joey Ortiz rounding out the batting order.
The Brewers made some other transactions today to go with Misiorowski’s callup. Right-handed pitcher Easton McGee was optioned to Triple-A Nashville to open up an active spot, and Brandon Woodruff was moved to the 60-day IL as he works his way back from injury, opening up a 40-man spot. Additionally, Aaron Civale requested a trade.
First pitch at 6:40 p.m., on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
