Jose Quintana makes his fourth start as the Brewers look to avoid being swept
It’s been a brutal road trip for the Brewers. The last time they won was in Jose Quintana’s previous start. They’ll need a little more of his early-season magic to avoid a five-game losing streak and a sweep in St. Louis.
Quintana will make his fourth start tonight, and he’s been the Brewers’ best starter so far. Though he’s only made three starts, he’s allowed just two runs for a 0.96 ERA. His last start came against the Giants, where he allowed one run in six innings. Over his career in St. Louis, he has a 2.89 ERA in 12 starts over 62 1⁄3 innings.
Meanwhile, Erick Fedde will start for the Cardinals. The Brewers faced him twice in 2024: once with the White Sox, then again with the Cardinals. He allowed four runs in five innings while with the White Sox, then just one run in six innings with the Cardinals. Though his 3.33 ERA has been good, he’s also struggled with command. His strikeout rate has dropped to 4.3 K/9, and his walk rate is up to 4.7 BB/9, which has resulted in a 5.07 FIP.
The Brewers will send out almost the same lineup for the third straight game. Eight of the nine starters are the same, with Isaac Collins batting seventh as the only change. The outfield alignment will also slightly change as Collins mans left field, Jackson Chourio moves to center field, and Sal Frelick shifts back to right field.
Here are the full lineups for this afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:15 p.m. on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
