Jose Quintana makes his third start as the Brewers try to bounce back in game two of the series against the Giants

Game one against the San Francisco Giants didn’t go well for the Brewers. Four runs allowed in the last four innings sunk them last night. It’s back to work right away tonight, as the two teams will meet for the second of four games.

Jose Quintana is making his third start with the Brewers. His first two starts with the Brewers have been strong. Over 12 2⁄3 innings, he’s allowed just one run, which came on a solo home run in his last start. He’s also struck out six and walked three in those two starts. Oracle Park hasn’t been the kindest to him, as he has a career 4.26 ERA in eight appearances (four starts) there. He made one start in San Francisco last year and allowed five runs in five innings.

For the Giants, Jordan Hicks will get the start. It’s been a rough start for Hicks in his second season as a starter. After six shutout innings in his first game, he’s allowed 15 runs over 16 1⁄3 innings in his last three starts. Hicks didn’t face the Brewers in 2024 and last faced the Brewers as a reliever in 2023. He has a career 3.00 ERA against the Brewers, though all of his previous appearances came solely as a reliever (19 relief appearances).

The Brewers will adjust their lineup in game two with a righty on the mound. The top four spots remain the same, but they’ll shift the bottom half of the lineup. Sal Frelick moves up to the fifth spot, with Jake Bauers getting the start at first while Rhys Hoskins gets the day off. Vinny Capra and Garrett Mitchell will also get starts over Joey Ortiz and Isaac Collins, respectively. Caleb Durbin will make his fifth straight start and remain in the ninth spot in the lineup.

The game will be on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin as well as the Brewers Radio Network. Note that the usual channels may shift with the Milwaukee Bucks also playing tonight. First pitch is set for 8:45 p.m.
