Brewers head back west to take on former friend Willy Adames and the Giants
After a nice 4-2 homestand, the Brewers are back on the road as they head west for the second consecutive road trip, this time a little closer to the coast as they head to the Bay Area to battle the San Francisco Giants for four games beginning Monday night. You can check out a full series preview here.
The Giants, who sit at 14-8 this season, are in third place in a deep NL West, behind both the Padres and Dodgers and just ahead of the D-backs. Meanwhile the Brewers sit one game back of the Cubs at the top of the NL Central.
Quinn Priester will make his third start in a Brewers uniform to open the series. Through two starts with Milwaukee, Priester is 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA as he’s allowed one run across 10 innings with eight strikeouts.
On the other side is veteran left-hander and 2021 AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray, who has a perfect 3-0 record through four starts despite a 4.19 ERA. He’s struck out 21 batters in 19 1⁄3 innings this year.
In the lineup, second baseman Brice Turang is in the leadoff spot despite the lefty on the bump, as it seems pretty clear at this point that Pat Murphy prefers him in that spot. Jackson Chourio bats second, followed by Christian Yelich as the DH. William Contreras, Rhys Hoskins, Sal Frelick, Joey Ortiz, Isaac Collins, and Caleb Durbin round out the order.
First pitch is at 8:45 p.m. CT on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin, MLB Network (out of market), and via the Brewers Radio Network.
