Tobias Myers makes his debut in Pittsburgh
The Brewers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight with a fresh face on the mound.
Right-handed pitcher Tobias Myers will be making his major league debut after seeing some early success in Triple-A. Myers posted a 1.62 ERA over 16 2⁄3 innings for Triple-A Nashville while striking out 22 batters and walking seven. The overall workload from starting pitchers has been all over the place due to injuries, so Myers’ addition will be the next opportunity for Milwaukee to display its depth.
The outfield takes on a different look as Joey Wiemer makes his third start of the season in left field. Blake Perkins will man center field with rookie Jackson Chourio in right field. With some outfield adjustments being made due to Christian Yelich’s absence, Perkins has been much improved at the plate compared to last year. Over the past seven days, he has a .286/.375/.429 slash line for a 128 wRC+.
William Conteras slots in as designated hitter tonight with Gary Sanchez getting the start behind the plate. The infield consists of Joey Ortiz, Willy Adames, Brice Turang, and Rhys Hoskins.
First pitch is set for 5:40 p.m. on the Bally Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
