Game Thread #100: Milwaukee Brewers (59-40) @ Seattle Mariners (53-46)

Milwaukee looks to extend their winning streak to 11

Happy game 100! Milwaukee is just two games away from winning 12 games in a row, which would mean blessing the entire Milwaukee metro area with free burgers courtesy of George Webb. As a result of their hot streak, Milwaukee is now tied with the Chicago Cubs for the best record in the National League.

Brewers players, however, won’t be able to take advantage of Milwaukee’s most famous promotion even if they manage to win the requisite two more games in a row. The Crew will be up in Seattle through Wednesday afternoon for a three-game set against the Mariners, who are just four games back of the Astros in the AL West.

Tonight’s starting pitcher for the visiting Brewers is veteran right-hander Brandon Woodruff. Woody has made just two starts this year since returning, allowing three runs while striking out 18 across 10 1/3 innings. Fun fact: this is Woodruff’s first career start against the Mariners.

On the mound for the Mariners will be George Kirby (4.50 ERA), whose ERA is significantly lower at home (3.62) than away. He’s won each of his last three starts, which have come against the Royals, Pirates, and Tigers. For more on the pitching matchups, and the series in general, check out Harrison’s series preview here.

Manager Pat Murphy rested a number of starters in yesterday’s game against the Dodgers, but most of them are back in the lineup today. Brice Turang is leading off in the absence of Sal Frelick, followed by William Contreras and Christian Yelich. Jackson Chourio is hitting cleanup, with Isaac Collins and Andrew Vaughn in the fifth and sixth spots.

Blake Perkins, Anthony Seigler (at third today), and Joey Ortiz round out the order. The one notable omission is Caleb Durbin, who’s been playing really well. Durbin had at least one hit in each game of the Dodgers series and is hitting .313 since the Brewers started their streak. Seigler only has 11 at-bats (two hits) since his call-up from Triple-A, so it makes sense that Murphy might want to get another look at him as the season inches closer to the trade deadline.

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network. First pitch is slated for 8:40 p.m.

Another day, another huge series
